The Project Management Professional (PMP ®) Exam Preparation course is designed to prepare students for the PMP ® Exam taken through the Project Management Institute (PMI ®). We are currently covering material in the 5th Edition Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
Penn State University is a Project Management Institute (PMI ®) Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.). We are committed to enhancing the ongoing professional development of PMI ® Members, PMI-certified Project Management Professionals, and other project management stakeholders.
This 21-hour course will focus on not only the tools and techniques used to better prepare for the PMP ® exam, but also the instruction surrounding the different types of methods and strategies on how to take the actual exam. The course will provide the necessary guidance throughout the entire process from applying for the exam, as well as what is required to keep the certification upon successful completion.
Penn State Great Valley's program offers only the highest caliber of instructors, who not only teach within the Project Management Certificate Program, but who come into the program having years of real-world experience. This expertise provides students with the knowledge and skills needed for success.
Methods used during this 21- hour course consist of: face-to-face lecture, classroom discussion, as well as simulated sample test question sessions. Students who have completed the prep course will be awarded 21 Professional Development Units (PDUs) which can be put towards the 35 hours needed to sit for the PMP ® Exam.
Students looking to enroll in the PMP prep course must familiarize themselves with both the PMI's Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK), as well as Rita Mulcahy's PMP Prep Textbook (8th edition).
“The PSU PM prep course was a catalyst for me to pass my PMP exam on the first attempt. I was impressed with the level of knowledge the instructor brought to the table, especially the fact that he even helped to craft some of the questions. I knew if I followed the formula provided by the course, I would succeed. The course provide all the tools needed, however, the applicant does have to plan on devoting time and effort to follow the guidance laid out in the course”
--John Humma, PMP
“The PMP Prep Course at Penn State provided me the guidance and tools to prepare for earning the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. The instructor provided step by step instruction from filling out the application, expectations faced during the exam, preparation and study strategy surrounding the material, scheduling the exam, and lastly—how to succeed in getting the PMP on the first try.”
