Graduate Research Assistantships 2008 - 2009
Description and Qualifications
The Graduate Assistantship is employment at Penn State Great Valley. It requires the graduate student recipient to work at Penn State Great Valley with designated faculty members performing research in return for a stipend and tuition remission. The student may not be employed elsewhere and is placed with faculty in the division in which s/he is a degree-seeking student. The award is made for one academic year. A recipient may apply for a possible renewal for the following academic year.
Candidates who have been formally accepted to a master's degree program (with the exception of the Master of Finance program) or special education instructional I students are eligible to apply. Unfortunately, those accepted to graduate certificate programs cannot be considered.
Employment begins August 15, 2008 and ends May 31, 2009. The stipend is paid monthly and is taxable. Credit hours covered by tuition, stipend amount and hours worked per week vary with the department awarding the GRA. See the chart below.
Tuition is paid for Fall 2008 and for Spring 2009 only. The half-time GRA must attend classes full-time in Fall and in Spring (9-12 credits each in Fall 2008 and Spring 2009).

Bunton-Waller Assistantship 2008 - 2009
Eligibility
The Bunton-Waller Assistantship is intended to support an enrolled student who will contribute to the diversity of Penn State’s graduate student body. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who is accepted for admission as a prospective student or is a currently enrolled, matriculated student.
Only those students accepted into a Master’s program (Master of Finance not eligible) at Penn State Great Valley or Special Education Instructional I are considered for this award. Those enrolled in Certificate programs are not eligible.
Tuition Paid
Awards are made on a funds-available basis and will consist of tuition remission for up to twelve credits each for Fall 2008 and Spring 2009. (It MAY be possible for the recipient to apply for tuition of up to nine credits for Summer 2009 provided the recipient has worked both Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters as the Bunton-Waller Assistant and provided funding is available.)
Stipend
A stipend of $14,625 total is paid for 2008-09. The stipend is paid monthly August 2008 through May 2009 and is considered taxable income by federal guidelines.
Work Commitment
You will work 20 hours per week for designated faculty members at Penn State Great Valley beginning August 15, 2008 and ending May 31, 2009. The recipient may not be employed elsewhere.
Course Load
The Bunton-Waller recipient must attend Fall and Spring semesters full-time (9-12 credits/semester).

Graduate Work Study Program
Masters students who will be at least half-time (5 or more credits/semester) who electronically submit theFree Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) 2008-09 by June 1, 2008 and who have high financial need may be considered for Graduate Work Study. It is a financial aid award and hours are paid as worked. The rate is $10.00/hr. See PSGV Financial Aid Office for more information.
