MBA in New Ventures and Entrepreneurship

The Penn State Great Valley MBA in New Ventures and Entrepreneurial Studies offers the skills to start new organizations or to develop new ventures within existing organizations.  This curriculum will stimulate your creative drive and teach you how to launch new products and services.  You will develop your managerial and technical skills, your base of corporate contacts, and the expertise and confidence needed to succeed with new ventures.   Interested in a certificate instead?  Get information on our 15 credit Essentials of Entrepreneurship certificate.  No GMAT required.

The New Ventures and Entrepreneurial Studies MBA and graduate certificates at Penn State Great Valley appeal to three types of students:

  • Entrepreneurs: starting new businesses;
  • Intrapreneurs: starting new ventures within existing organizations;
  • Social Entrepreneurs: starting ventures that benefit the community.

Management offers courses in 7 and 14-week formats.  Seven-week classes meet 2 evenings a week. Fourteen-week classes meet 1 evening a week.  Several classes in the 7-week format are held on Saturdays.  There are six 7-week sessions each academic year.  You may begin at the start of any session.

Admission requirements

Applicants should

  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Have a working knowledge of statistics and accounting;
  • Submit all necessary forms, documentation, and fees;
  • Have at least 3 years of professional work experience.

  Degree requirements

Effective Spring 2007, between 30 and 45 credits are required to complete the MBA degree.  Prior to enrolling in an MBA program, you are expected to meet pre-program requirements in quantitative and communication skills through previous course work or take up to 6 credits of pre-program requirements

The MBA in New Ventures and Entrepreneurial Studies requires up to 45 credits, depending on the applicant's undergraduate preparation.  You may be exempt from up to 15 credits from the MBA core courses through previous academic preparation.

If you were admitted and began course work prior to Spring 2007 you may complete your degree under the original curriculum guidelines in place at the time of your admission.
