News Release: National Engineers Week features Cybercrime
 

‘Cybercrime’ Program Heads National Engineers Week Activities at Penn State Great Valley

Penn State Great Valley School of Graduate Professional Studies will celebrate National Engineers Week this year, February 17-23, with a host of activities. Included is a program titled, “Cybercrime,” set for Wednesday, February 20, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Room 125 Main Building on campus. This lecture is part of the campus’ Engineering Division Lecture Series.

During this program, Brian Herrick, a special agent for the FBI in Philadelphia, will discuss computer intrusions, internet fraud, intellectual property theft, and information security best practices. Herrick joined the FBI in 2002. The former director of information at IntelliCorp, a Silicon Valley-based software development and consulting services firm, and technical support manager with Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group, is assigned to the Philadelphia Computer Intrusion Task Force, working computer hacking and Internet fraud matters. 

Herrick has a B.A. and M.S. from Villanova University, and an M.B.A. in Technology and Electronic Commerce from West Chester University, where he also serves as an adjunct professor.

In addition, other National Engineers Week activities at Penn State Great Valley include: Monday, Feb. 18­-career services and job search tips for engineers, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Room 125 Main Building; Tuesday, Feb. 19­-Grad School Test Drive, beginning at 5:45 p.m. Attendees can experience the first half of an engineering course, then meet with the instructor and discuss program options with campus academic advisors. Pre-registration to the email address below is required by February 13; Thursday, Feb. 21­-engineering and information science information session, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Room 126 Main Building.
