 Who should attend

Professionals whose responsibilities include requirements gathering, business analysis, or project management; those who analyze business situations and develop requirements; and application developers whose goals include transitioning to IT business managers.

Certificate Requirement – Three Courses

A Penn State Great Valley certificate is awarded upon completion of the three required courses. Courses should be taken in the suggested order below.  If you do not need the entire sequence, you're welcome to take any course that interests you.

Curriculum

Required Courses:

SWENG 5131 - Assessing Users' Needs (required course beginning Fall 2008 semester)
Prerequisite: Basic understanding of requirements gathering

SWENG 5103 - Object-Oriented Methodologies, Introduction  
Prerequisite: SWENG 5131 Assessing User's Needs or basic knowledge of the role of a business analyst or liasons between end users and developers

Elective Courses:  (or choose one beginning Fall 2008 semester)

SWENG 5104 - Unified Modeling Language (UML)
Prerequisite: Object Oriented Methodologies

SWENG 5105 - IT Change Management and Quality Assurance
Prerequisite: Unified Modeling Language (UML)

Supplementary Course:

SWENG 5106 -  Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)

Class size is limited. Interested persons are urged to register early.  IMPORTANT!  The enrollment one week before a class begins determines whether it will be held, so help us avoid course cancellations by registering early!
