Engineering Research Institute Papers

During the spring 2007 semester, systems and software engineering graduate students in the Penn State Great Valley Engineering Research Institute (RI), led by Dr. Norita Ahmad, prepared research papers to satisfy the research requirement of the masters degree programs.

As part of the Research Institute, students attended lectures, received instruction in research methodologies, and performed exploratory research.  The Institute also allowed students to meet individually with faculty, attend and participate in discussion sessions with resident and guest researchers, and to learn about research in industry, foreign countries, and other universities.  The guest lecturers for this session were Dr. Paul Kogut, Dr. Darryl Farber, Dr. Kevin Warwick, and Jim Lauckner .

The Great Valley faculty contributed lectures on: The Research Process, Information & Electronic Resources, Research Writing Workshop, Intellectual Property, Presentation and Dissemination of Research, Transition of Research to Application, Asset Management, Services Science,  SOA/Service Computing, Multivariant Data Analysis, Classification Trees and Decision Making with Multiple Objectives, RFID: Another Form of Pervasive Computing, Global Software Development, and Impact of Screen Readers on Reading Comprehension.  The students also presented the papers they prepared for the Research Institute.
