MALVERN - During the week of January 15th, Penn State Great Valley School of Graduate Professional Studies will celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther with art exhibits, musical performances and a special presentation by astronaut and Penn State alumnus Dr. Guion S. Bluford.
Dr. Bluford will address the public in on January 19th from 1:30 -2:30 p.m. As a NASA mission specialist and payload commander, Guion "Guy" Bluford was the first African American to fly in space in 1983 aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger. He has flown on a total of four Space Shuttle missions and has logged over 688 hours in space. A graduate of the aerospace engineering program at Penn State University, Dr. Bluford has earned honors from NASA, the U.S. Air Force, and Department of Defense, as well as thirteen honorary doctorate degrees.
