2000 Minority Career Workshop To Be Held at Penn State Great Valley

MALVERN- Penn State Great Valley, School of Graduate Professional Studies, will host a workshop for minority professionals on Saturday, May 6, from 9:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. The free event entitled, "Managing Your Career in A Technological Age: A Cross-Cultural Workshop for Minority Professionals," will offer a comprehensive look at the changes in today's marketplace: emerging technologies, globalization, re-engineering and quality management, and how these changes have created new challenges to career advancement.

Sponsored by Penn State Great Valley and Lockheed Martin, the workshop will provide information about the issues facing minority professionals in business, industry, and educational institutions and the skills necessary to maximize current and future career goals.

The activities begin at 9:00 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast. Following breakfast, two keynote speakers; Pamela Blow-Mitchell from Lockheed Martin and Jasper Jones of the Praxis Institute, will set the theme for the day's event. Afterwards, registrants will attend concurrent workshops led by successful business leaders on such topics as, "Behavioral Interviewing," "Tools of Networking," "Resume Updating," "Buzz Words in Technology," and "Updating Your Credentials." The afternoon will conclude with a business card exchange and reception at 3:00 p.m.
