MALVERN - Penn State Great Valley Graduate Center celebrates Martin Luther King's life during the week of January 17th with demonstrations by local artists, musical performances, and a presentation by actor John Amos.
Monday, January 17, 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Main Lobby: Dane Tilghman, premier painter of African-American Golf Art and Negro League Baseball Images. Prints and original pieces will be available for purchase.
Tuesday, January 18, 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Main Lobby: Ferebee Gospel Group - an exciting spiritual gospel group consisting of four sisters who have been singing together and touring throughout the tri-state area for more than 20 years.
Wednesday, January 19, 4:30- 5:30 p.m. in the Main Lobby: JazzTech Ensemble: Four-piece jazz ensemble featuring Penn State Great Valley's Dr. Eric Stein, associate professor of management science and information systems.
Thursday, January 20, 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Main Lobby: "Positively to the Point" - these dancers range in age from 7-18 and will perform a selection of hip-hop, tap, and modern dance. This exciting Philadelphia youth dance company has toured internationally.
Friday, January 21, 1:30-2:30 p.m. Room 130/131: John Amos, actor, will address the public. Well-known television and movie star, John Amos is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the adult Kunte Kinte in "Roots," which earned Mr. Amos an Emmy nomination. He has also recently starred in Norman Lear's sitcom. "704 Hauser," seen on the CBS television network. Mr. Amos' motion picture credits include, "Coming to America," with Eddie Murphy and "Die Hard 2," with Bruce Willis.
