Leadership in Technology Integration (LITI)
 

The Master of Education in Instructional Systems, emphasis in Leadership in Technology Integration (LITI)  

This degree prepares educators to be instructional technology leaders in their school districts or to broaden their credentials to work as technology coordinators within their schools or districts.  Course work emphasizes models of education systems design, computers as learning and teaching tools, and leadership for systemic change.

LITI offers courses in 7 and 14-week formats.  Seven-week classes meet 2 evenings a week or a full day on Saturdays.  Fourteen-week classes meet 1 evening a week or a half-day on Saturdays.  A varied schedule is offered in the summer.  Some courses are offered via the Web and are self-paced.

Degree requirements

Students in the Master of Education degree program may either

  • complete 33 credits (which includes a 3-credit professional paper) or 
  • 36 credits (which includes a 3-credit colloquium). 

You may take up to 9 credits on a nondegree basis.  You are urged to see an academic adviser before starting the program.

There are six 7-week sessions each academic year.  Students may begin at the start of any session.

Instructional Systems sequence

Most students start with INSYS 415, then take INSYS 441EDTEC 566, or EDTEC 448. Students should meet with an academic adviser during their first course to design a plan of study.

Education faculty

LITI faculty members have both theoretical grounding and practical experience in teaching and computer technology.  They are involved as scholars, consultants, practitioners and researchers.

Students

Most students are practicing K-12 classroom teachers or librarians and have a special interest in computer-based learning.
