Engineering Research Institute (SYSEN 594B)
Software Engineering Research Institute (SWENG 594B)
The Research Institute provides a lecture series and the opportunity for Engineering and Information Science students to conduct independent research at Great Valley. The class meets on a varied schedule throughout the semester, usually from 4 – 6 p.m., so students can schedule a regular (6 – 9 p.m.) class in addition to the RI.
The RI research paper can fulfill the Master’s Paper Research requirement for students in the Software Engineering and the Systems Engineering programs. Students in other programs at Great Valley (e.g. Information Science) may schedule the RI as a technical elective.
RI student opportunities include
- Lectures on research methodologies, intellectual property, and other topics of interest.
- Discussions and presentations by scholars from the U.S. and abroad describing their research projects.
- Production of a scholarly research paper in consultation with faculty and visiting scholars.
- Submission of research papers for presentation or publication at conferences or in journals. Student papers appear in a poster session at an annual on-campus research exhibition.
