The Program
This four course certificate program for elementary teachers concentrates on the nature of science, science content, and science teaching.

You have the option of taking one course or all course offerings depending on your area of interest.

You may register for any course in the program. There is no sequential order when registering.

The Curriculum
Science Content: 3 credits required
- Science Content for Elementary Teachers: SCIED 597 - 3 credits
Science Teaching: 6 credits of any graduate level science education courses are required. For example:
- Computer Tools for Inquiry-based Science Teaching: SCIED 597 - 3 credits
- Science Education Curriculum: SCIED 597 - 3 credits
Research: 3 credits required
- Teacher as Inquirer: CI 501 - 3 credits OR
- Introduction to Research Literature: CI 400 - 3 credits
Getting Started
To begin this program, complete and submit a Graduate Nondegree Application.
Courses are offered year-round in the evenings and on Saturdays. Two courses are generally offered per semester, allowing you to complete the entire certificate program in one year.
